Aim: This webinar will provide you with expert guidance on developing your safeguarding strategy for the 2024/2025 academic year, in line with the key priorities outlined in KCSIE 2024. It will highlight practical ways to comply with your statutory safeguarding duties; reflect on real-world events and current concerns for independent preparatory schools; and offer support on conducting in-depth assessments and implementing up-to-date, impactful approaches within pivotal areas including online safety, mental health and SEND.

Why this webinar’s important: On 24 May, the DfE published a ‘for information’ version of ‘Keeping children safe in education’ 2024: this guidance will become statutory from 1 September 2024. It is important for independent preparatory settings to start developing their safeguarding strategy, evaluating their current child protection measures and planning for next year.

Outcome 1:

Refreshing your knowledge of KCSIE and understanding the changes and updates which are intended to come into effect from September 2024

Outcome 2:

Identifying the key events which have impacted safeguarding and child protection during the last academic year, including in the online space and from a mental health perspective

Outcome 3:

Reflecting on your school’s current safeguarding provision against KCSIE 2024 – with particular regard to compliance, staff roles and the individual context of your school

Outcome 4:

Recognising how KCSIE aims to enhance the safeguarding practice of all staff, highlighting key roles and reinforcing the status of safeguarding leaders, particularly the DSL

Outcome 5:

Refining your school’s safeguarding strategy for 2024-25 and focusing on key priorities, in line with the updated statutory guidance
