Aim: This webinar will provide you with expert insight into practical approaches to teacher retention, based on recent guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). The EEF is an independent charity aiming to improve the educational attainment of disadvantaged pupils. Its goal is to support schools and colleges to improve teaching and learning through the use of research and evidence on best practice.

Why this webinar’s important: On 1 November 2023, the EEF published ‘Reviewing the evidence base on school leadership, culture, climate and structure for teacher retention’, a rapid evidence assessment focusing on how school leadership, culture and climate support teacher retention. The report highlights how prioritising teacher development, building relational trust and improving working conditions all help to improve teacher retention.

Outcome 1:

Discovering the findings and recommendations from the EEF’s rapid evidence assessment

Outcome 2:

Gaining insight into how improving teacher retention rates can have a positive impact on pupils’ overall learning and development

Outcome 3:

Identifying the impact that school leadership, culture, climate and structure have on influencing teacher retention

Outcome 4:

Recognising the importance of collegiality, positive school discipline, intellectual stimulation, and equity in workload arrangements and support distribution

Outcome 5:

Understanding how undertaking quality professional development can help school leaders motivate and retain teachers in their schools
